Jason's baby   — Jason Edwards, OK, USA

My wife tested positive for strep B. The doctor gave us the option to induce labor in her 39th week because he was going out of town. We arrived at the hospital on a Thursday night at 9:00pm. My wife asked 3 different times to be hooked up to the IV and receive the medication for the strep B. She told the nurses several times that she was strep B positive. The doctor came in and broke my wife's water at 10:30 pm, and we were still not hooked up with the IV. Finally at 1:30 am she received her IV. My wife gave birth at 5:07am. She received only 1 dose of the strep b medication. My son stopped breathing for a few seconds shortly after he was born. They put him on oxygen throughout the day. They did not tell us what was wrong with him until the end of the day. They said he had strep B and they put him on medication. We thank God that they found it so fast. He is now 5 weeks old and doing great. He did have to stay in the hospital for 7 days. I went to make a complaint with the director of the hospital about not receiving the medication like we should have. I wanted our hospital bill to be taken care by the hospital as I felt we deserved that for their mess up. We recently received a letter in the mail stating from the hospital that they did nothing wrong!
