Leo's story   — louise clark, Devon, United Kingdom

I got sent to the hospital for rupture of membranes. Over the course of 8 hours, my baby wasn't moving and his heart rate kept on dropping! I got sent for an emergency c section, but delivered naturally. My baby was sent straight to NICU for low body temperature and suspected sepsis! Blood results came back! He had sepsis! His infection levels kept on rising, even with antibiotics! The dreaded words, "we're going to have to perform a lumbar puncture" left like the whole experience shattered! We all expected to be going home the next day with our healthy baby! I was lucky. After 7 days of 2 different antibiotics and 5 days in the high dependency ward, Leo had no major side affects and we were allowed to go home! I wish I had known about this infection!
