Isaiah's Story   — margie maldonado, FL, USA

Hi, my name is Margie. I was GBS positive when I was 37 weeks pregnant and I wasn't treated the right way when I went into labor. I wasn't told how bad it will be for my baby if I was GBS positive... my labor was induced and I gave birth to my baby boy ISAIAH on 04/22/2014. Doctors sent me home with my newborn. Two weeks later my son was crying with a high pitch, was very uncomfortable, and kept crying for about 2 hours straight. I didn't know what was wrong with him. I tried everything I could think of to have him calm down and nothing would work until he fell asleep. Once he woke up from his nap, I felt him and he was very hot. I took his temperature t and it was 102.0. I immediately called 911. As I was speaking with an operator, my 2 week old baby was having seizures. Once we got to the hospital they did a spinal test and my baby was diagnosed with GBS meningitis and a clot in the brain :-(. I was told by doctors that my baby might not live and from there all I know was I had to keep my faith and belief very high on God. I knew in that very moment that God will take full control of the situation. My lil Trooper was in the ICU with tubes in his mouth and nose and with a picc line and a bunch of IV's. it was a horrible time for my family and myself. All we could do is pray that ISAIAH would get through this. He was admitted in the hospital for 3 weeks. He is now home. Thanks to God for all He has done to keep my baby alive. I'm so thankful for all my Lord has done. Now we just have to keep 20/20 vision on ISAIAH and make sure his development is going well and keep him on a injection which is called lovonox for the clot in the brain and a couple of medications for seizures. We continue praying for our lil trooper. May God be in all his blessings...
