My son is now 25 years old and he was born with GBS meningitis. How horrifying.....he is now diagnosed with ADHD, bipolar disorder, major depression, border line mental retardation(of which he knows nothing of) and is also a cocaine addict. When he was born, my water was broke by the doctor...he went undiagnosed for more than 12 hours. Back then they knew very little about GBS. He was hospitalized for 36 days of IV ABX therapy. He had multiple seizures, one which the medical team needed to use the ambu bag to help him breathe again. He has always been considered a miracle child......as he puts it, the gift that keeps on giving.
