Josh's Story   — Debra Ryan, OR, USA

My son Josh, who is now 26 years old, contracted Beta Strep in 1981. Not much was known then, and he was rushed to CHOC hospital in Orange, Ca. He was in Intensive Care for 2 days, then transfered to Martin Luther CCU for 13 days. He was born almost 10 lbs, and it was hard to believe by looking at him that there was anything wrong. The nurses there constantly held him, as he was one of the only babies that could be held. He was given antibiotics through a vein in his head. He was colicky when he came home, and I was not able to get him to breastfeed. I wonder, does anyone know if there are side effects as adults from this? My heart goes out to you moms whose little ones did not make it. Blesssings to all.
