David Austin's story   — SHELLEY CURRENCE, WV, USA

My baby David Austin Currence born July 28, 2004, was born with GBS. He was 7 lbs and was healthy overall. I thought he was perfect. I told the doctors about all the signs he had and they all ignored me like I didn't know what I was talking about because I was a first time mother and I was only 20 yrs old. Like all mothers, I welcomed my baby home the next day— but I didn't know it was the last time I would hold him alive. He ended up getting a temperature and spent a week in the hospital and died on Aug 5, 2004. My baby Austin gave it all he had but because of the doctors' mistake he is not here and I will feel empty for the rest of my life. I'm just glad I got to hold an angel from heaven.
